It’s not just a game with black and white;

It’s battles of brains, not fists or might.

Each piece has power, each move has weight,

Just one mistake can secure your fate.

I plan my traps, I guard my king,

I watch the board for everything.

Knights pounce over, rooks fly straight:

One clever move could ensure mate.

I love the art of silent war,

Of thinking hard, then thinking more.

Win or lose, I still feel proud;

Because my thoughts spoke hard and loud.

So that’s why chess is fun to play:

It makes me smarter every day.
