Scene 1:

(The Hare is laying on the floor at the corner of the stage and the Tortoise is getting up from a bed in the middle of the stage)

Hare: (energetically) Oh yes, another great day to mock this old tortoise’s pathetic speed! This slowie never learns to move faster.

Tortoise: (painfully) aaaaaarhhhhh! My back hurts when I get up now :( .

(Hare leaves his home and sprints to tortoise)

*knock knock*

Tortoise: (frustrated) Why is somebody visiting this early in the morning! (Tortoise opens the door to see a sly hare face in front of him)

Hare: (pointing towards Tortoise) Slow-poke!

Tortoise: (to himself) I can’t handle this irritating hare any longer! I must prove him wrong!! (Addressing hare) How about we race to see who is really faster?

Hare: So courageous. I praise your enthusiasm to beat me, but your dream of beating me will remain a dream. I’m confident I will easily beat you! Let’s race now.

Scene 2:

(The place is now the local field where the tortoise and hare will be racing. They will run in circles up and down the hills.)

(Tortoise and Hare ready themselves up at the local field and countdown to race)

Hare: Are you ready? Three! Two! One! GO!

(Hare easily outruns tortoise for the first half of the field and even sprints back to mock the tortoise)

Hare: Look how slow you are! What even put that thought of beating my inside your small head?

Tortoise: (To himself) This hare is too arrogant for me to let him beat me.

(After teasing Tortoise, Hare gets bored)

Hare: (yawning) You’re no fun Tortoise. I’ll take a short nap. (Hare falls asleep)

(The curtain comes down and goes back up, the lights are dimmer to show the evening lights)

Hare: Oh that was the best sleep I’d ever had! Now, where is this Tortoise?

(Hare looks around until he spots Tortoise a few metres away from the finish line)

Hare: OH NO! I BETTER GO FAST! (hare sprints using all his effort to the finish line)

(Just as hare was about to beat Tortoise, Tortoise touches the finish line first and hare falls on his knees in disbelief)

Tortoise: Slow and steady wins the race.
