Should deforestation be illegal?

Deforestation being illegal is a hotly debated subject. I am currently concerned about all types of deforestation, but I am most concerned about chopping down ancient forests such as rainforests because they have many positives such as tour spots and its unique rain. They make around three hundred million cubic meters of wood which is unjust. Is deforestation useful to us or does it destroy our world? Does deforestation impact the world economy and how greatly? I generally support deforestation being illegal so please care the the environment and join me in supporting this!

Some people argue that ancient forests are home to two hundred million people and nearly one and a half billion people rely on forest goods for survival. This makes forests crucial for a fifth of the world population to survive. They also argue that some species of animals are starting to become extinct due to their forest homes being cut down. We want animals to survive, not die out. The forest is like a border between wealthy and poor people in which poor people create their own living ways and civilisation with their own rules. If the forest gets destroyed, this border is destroyed and may lead to war.

In terms of the world, deforestation of ancient trees can affect climate change which can be a disaster. Cutting down trees will result in CO2 being released into the air and moreover, the oxygen quality will be reduced due to the trees not producing any more oxygen. This will not be good for our earth since the CO2 becomes a greenhouse gas, trapped inside the earth’s atmosphere and heating up the earth.

On the other hand, others argue that deforestation of ancient jungles creates high income-earning opportunities such as timber jobs because they are rare and worth more money. It allows people who are jobless to earn money for their families to survive. People argue that deforestation of ancient forests gives the world resources to create prettier and valuable furniture, houses and other useful things to use in life. They say that these resources make life more appealing and without them, human life will be depressing.

Additionally, they suggest that deforestation of ancient jungles clears out much more land because ancient jungles are vast and enormous. The new area can be used for urban activities such as building a city or making a successful company.

I believe deforestation should be illegal to protect the environment of human and animals’ homes and keep ancient history the same, not to be ruined and disturbed. Ancient forests are part of our world and we want vast amounts of fresh air over vast amounts of land. This will keep our air clean and allow fresh air to enter our bodies.
