The school day should be extended. Discuss.(two-sided argument)

In our class, we have been debating whether or not school days should be lengthened. This is being discussed because we discovered that some parents want their children to have extra lessons after school and others do not want it at all.

Some parents believe that the school days should be extended. They have a number of reasons for suggesting this. Their first reason is that children are given tasks to complete at home after school, and it is better for them to finish the task at school under teachers' support; teachers provide students more proper support than parents. Another reason is that parents are too busy to offer support to their children.

On the other hand, other parents argue against the idea of lengthening the school days. They claim that children should not be given any homework, and that children should be free to do all sorts of things such as watching television and playing computer games. Furthermore, long school days will make children despise school and learning.

Bearing in mind all these arguments put together, I have made up my mind. I believe that children shouldn't have increased school days because they deserve to rest after a long day, not to work even more. Also, children should be positive and enjoy learning.
