Does playing sport benefit students as much as academic work? Or is it just a waste of time? I want to think about the advantages of playing sports to students or whether we should just do school homework instead.
Some people believe that playing sports takes time, whether practising or partaking in tournaments, and that the time can be used to do school homework instead. Moreover, they say that students could get injuries, and worse, they could end up spending time in the hospital. For example, a student breaks his legs in football and spends a week in hospital. This makes him unable to study. Finally, they say that playing sports will lead to wearing out students and they will be too tired to focus.
On the other hand, others argue that sports keep students motivated and positive. Students report that playing sports keeps them healthy and happy. This makes school life more enjoyable and to play sport will make them more sociable. Last but not least, parents and teachers can support students if they are in hospital. Injured students report that teachers can get in contact with them online and they can take classes while being in hospital. Teachers can support students using digital apps such as zoom. To sum up, it is believed that playing sport is as worthwhile as doing school homework.
Bearing in mind all the arguments, I believe that playing sport is as worthwhile as doing school homework because sports can give students many benefits, such as keeping them healthy and socialising. Also, students can enjoy the benefits of sports.
