Animals and humans co-exist and have shared the resources of the Earth for millions of years.
Should animals have the same rights as people? I want to think about how animals are meant to be treated. Are they meant to be treated inhumanely? If they don't get the rights they deserve, will
there be any consequences for human beings?
Some people believe that animals don't deserve the same rights as humans. Their first reason is that animals such as caterpillars eat farmers' crops and that birds consume their seeds in fields.
Earthworms create mounds of clumpy dirt in gardens, which ruins the beauty of them. Some business people argue that animals don't have the rights as humans; people can take their skins to keep them warm. Moreover, some people insist that animals are dirty and spread filth around the
house. They believe that animals transmit diseases to humans such as rabies (They cause death).
On the other hand, there are environmental enthusiasts who believe animals should have equal rights to human. They argue that animals keep the eco system balanced. Some animals such as butterflies (full-grown caterpillars)can support pollination for plants. Birds eat and spread seeds across lands. Earthworms plough soil for plants.
Furthermore, teachers and parents protest animal cruelty should not pass onto young people. Instead, young people should learn to care for animals and therefore their natural habitats by protecting the environment and therefore reversing climate change. Medical professionals suggest keeping pets to bring joy to humans and maintain people's mental health. Last but not least, animal lovers protest that animals can be immunized against diseases like rabies.
Since animals are weaker species, they have been mistreated for years, although they have so much contributions to the world. Human should give them the rights that they deserve such as healthcare treatments and food.
Bearing in mind all the arguments put in here, I have made up my mind that animals are not meant to be treated inhumanely because they are important to the world, and if we don't give them the rights they deserve, there will be consequences like climate change and the eco system collapsing. In conclusion, I think animals should have the same rights as people.
