13+ Entrance Exam Paper for Aldenham School
Staring out into the distance, I gazed around at the long, windy path that seemed to stretch out forever like a maze. The time was one a.m, and I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to have some time to myself, alone. It was misty and I felt small shivers across my body, but I thought I knew it would be a great experience. I shuffle my feet along the rocky ground, enjoying the crunch as I shuffled more and more. I could hear the owls hooting and the crickets chirping above me. The wise, serene whispered to each other, as if they were talking about me. Fresh grass smell wafted into my nose; it felt like I was a furnace being fed with unlimited oxygen.
Making my way down the path, I found a comfortable bench on which I flopped myself and lay backwards, my head pointing to the sky. I watched the countless stars shimmer as if they were performing a show to me.
I sat up and something seemed odd. I could no longer hear the crickets and owls and the green grass had turned a shade of black. I reminded myself that it was just my powerful imagination an there was nothing to worry about.
Then, everything seemed normal again. The owls were hooting and the crickets were chirping and I lost the feeling of worried ness. I smiled with my eyes shut, thinking about how I could have this every day when I went teach my students.
Snap! I heard a branch crack somewhere to my right and then a distorted whimper. Then, I heard footsteps around me, rustling everywhere in the bushes. My joy turned to panic. I started running as fast as I could, but it was no use. The sounds kept racing through my head. Suddenly, they stopped. “Hello dear,” a sinister high pitched and muffled voice cackled behind me.
